Nigerian Music 2000 – 2009

The 2000 decade represented a year of shift / transition of music consumption in Nigeria, from the hitherto Western music to local patronage. This was the year when the likes of P Square, 2Face Idibia, Faze and other indigenous artists started transforming the Nigerian music industry with beautiful songs garnished with Nigerian “lingua” and local dialect that people could easily relate to. From this point forward, there was no turning back in the direction Nigerian music was headed to.
